The wait finally ended yesterday when Apple took to the stage at the Flint Center in Cupertino to unveil its first wearable device. It had been widely referred to as the iWatch but the official moniker given by the company is Apple Watch. The device has only been unveiled at this point in time, it will hit the market early next year.
Apple has done things a bit differently on its smartwatch. Instead of completely relying on touch input like every other smartwatch out there Apple has introduced something that it calls a “digital crown.” It can be used to scrolling, zooming and controlling almost every major feature of the Apple Watch.
All the marketing material that was showed off yesterday depicted an Apple Watch with the digital crown on the right side. This led many to believe that perhaps Apple had forgot about lefties which make up roughly 10 percent of the world’s population. The rumors seemed too good to be true as one finds it hard to believe that Apple will overlook such a major design element.
Indeed it did not. A spokesman for the company has confirmed that the Apple Watch can easily be used by lefties. The solution is fairly simply. Invert the wearable device and wear it on the right wrist. The spokesman also confirmed that users will be allowed to set it up for left-hand or right-hand use when they first switch on the device.
